About us and how we can help

Business in the Community (BITC), founded by HRH The Prince of Wales, is the UK's oldest and largest business-led membership organisation dedicated to responsible business practice. We convene a unique network of purposeful leaders and create innovative programmes that deliver impact, by mobilising their collective strength to tackle some of society's biggest issues at scale. BITC’s Place programme brings together business, civic leadership and the third sector to make a long-term, transformative impact on communities. We bring business skills to bear on challenges and opportunities within neighbourhoods, working with community concerns and aspirations.

BITC have a wide network of member businesses, and can therefore provide access to business in areas lacking large business presence or for areas without existing strong business partnerships, increasing the scope and impact of businesses on Town Deal Boards. We can provide support in brokering and building these relationships.

BITC have decades of experience working with business and communities, as well as experience of leading place-based transformation projects that are overseen by business-led Boards, and can therefore provide advice and resources in overcoming the challenges that towns face in relation to effective cross-sector working, developing investment plans and business cases, and community engagement. Baroness Valentine and Lord Bassam also have extensive personal experience and expertise in related areas.
