Health and Wellbeing Workshop

Description:

How we plan, design, build and live in our towns and our buildings has important implications for how healthy and well we can be. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us the importance of health and wellbeing in local Town populations (which is explored further in our Learning Burst – Mitigating the impacts of Covid-19) and how the Towns Fund will be able to help.

It is clear that some projects have direct health and wellbeing benefits; however, projects which do not centre on health and wellbeing also may have direct or indirect health and wellbeing benefits which can reinforce business cases.

The aim of this workshop is to create a forum in which Towns can talk through their projects, share successes, how to overcome challenges faced while producing their Business Cases, find potential local partners and measure impact has become evident.

About the speakers:

Katie Wood has successfully led the development of strategy, business cases, planning and delivery for a wide variety of healthcare programmes and projects across the UK, Australia and Canada. Her work has led to consideration of the wider determinants of health, and advice on how the built environment supports health and wellbeing overall

Jenny Dunwoody has extensive knowledge of conducting health impact assessments, environmental impact assessments and sustainability. She has produced guides outlining how to calculate direct and indirect health benefits from Environmental Impact Assessments.

Michael Towl has experience in applying Health and Wellbeing concepts into the built environment. Throughout the Towns Fund programme Michael has liaised with Towns to help them in their TIP development and consider the impact of COVID-19 on their Town.
