Towns Resource Showcase

As the Towns Fund Delivery Partner, we are working to support you in developing robust and considered Business Cases and projects that will help you achieve positive change in your Town. Your Town Coordinator will work with you to guide you through the resources available and ensure you can access appropriate support throughout each stage of the Towns Fund process. Further details of the TFDP Stage 2 support offer can be found in our recently published Stage 2 Support Offer Summary.

On Tuesday 8th June, TFDP presented to Towns to provide details of the ongoing support. This was to allow you to hear how these programmes might benefit you and your team over the coming months:

  • Making Connections Count: Engagement – A 6-week active learning programme for officers and Town Deal Board members responsible for stakeholder engagement and communications. Participants will use their own challenges to develop a bespoke toolbox of how to engage with their key stakeholders for each project, and how they can apply this learning to develop their connections and networks.

  • Making Connections Count: Investors – A 6-week programme to assist towns with key investment issues, including how to package projects to make them attractive to investors, options for ‘soft market testing’, and generating confidence in projects.  Further details of the Investors programme will follow.

  • Place Leadership Programme (second round) -- This 8-week programme will support Programme Leads and Town Deal Board Chairs to expand their understanding of place leadership. Through presentations and working on their own place challenge, participants will gain inspiration for how they can develop and apply different methods and ways of working.

  • Better Business Cases training: These 2-day Better Business Cases™ courses are an initiative from HM Treasury and Welsh Government that aims to increase the skills of those involved in preparing or reviewing business cases against HM Treasury's Green Book Guidance on Public Sector Business Cases Using the Five Case Model. (Information on previous sessions can be found here.)

A recording of the session can be found below, along side a copy of the presentation slides.

Please speak to your Town Coordinator if you have any questions regarding the programmes listed above.
