About us and how we can help
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport is a ministerial Department supported by 45 agencies and public bodies. The Department broadly covers five sectors; Digital, Culture, Media, Sport, and Civil Society.
The scope of support provided by the Department itself will cover, broadly, “Digital”, “Media” and “Civil Society”.
As such, the Department can act flexibly as a critical friend to set up proposals for success, guidance function to share best practice or sounding board to ensure strategic fit. Sectors in scope include proposals relating to:
Digital, including but not limited to digital innovation, digital skills and inclusion, digital infrastructure (broadband, 5G Testbeds and Trials), and digital proposals which align with major programmes such as Local Full Fibre Networks, Superfast and Rural Gigabit Connectivity.
Media, including but not limited to broadcasting, press, advertising, and radio.
Civil society, including but not limited to social action, VCSE sector, youth, loneliness, Social Investment (including Social Impact Bonds) and institutional impact investment and social enterprise.
All other DCMS sectors will be covered by the coalition of DCMS culture, sport and tourism public bodies, leading broadly on “Culture” and “Sport”. This is with the exception of major events, libraries and museums, which will be covered by the Department.
